The State vs. a Christian Librarian
The SciFi Channel is still running their weekend-long marathon, and I can’t stop watching it. Rod Serling, the the chain-smoking narrator and graduate of Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH, produced an incredibly creative show with some surprisingly serious and dark themes… especially considering when they originally aired. (I’ve watched most of Serling’s work before, and my fellow conservatives may not be aware than in 1972, Serling adapted a book by Russell Kirk for an episode of Night Gallery.)
One episode especially stuck out today. It is called “The Obsolete Man,” with a fabulous performance by Burgess Meredith, which shows a centralized, anti-religious state and is eerily similar to the type of utopia which President Obama and his supporters strive for. Because of this, and because of Governor Ted Strickland’s apparent disdain for librarians, it is worth checking out below the fold:
