Ohio’s Heavy Handed Environmental Rules Killing 214 Jobs
Gov. Ted Strickland has asked environmental regulators to come up with a way to save 214 jobs at a northwest Ohio plant that is considering a move to Indiana because of an environmental rule.
Continental Structural Plastics in North Baltimore says a state regulation requires the auto-parts plant to use a machine that costs $500,000 to operate each year.
But the company says the machine is no longer needed to meet Environmental Protection Agency standards because it has made other changes to its operations.
Indiana is being considered because it does not have the same rule.
This shows what happens when Ohio’s sloppy regulatory structure imposes unpredictable and stricter regulations than the Federal EPA.
But since the machines that are required are to reduce pollution, why isn’t Ted Strickland applauding the loss of jobs? It’s simply a transition to the GREEN ECONOMY!
