State Rep. Dan Dodd (District 91) Brings Wrong Award to a High School, Publicly Belittles Aide

Rep. Dan Dodd, Idiot

I can’t believe I missed this story last week, but State Rep. Dan Dodd of Hebron truly embarrassed himself in front of high school students last week.

It wasn’t quite Matthew Barrett-level embarrassment, but it is still one of the dumbest recent Statehouse stories I’ve heard. Good grief Dan, you are an idiot:

Dear Editor,

Several weeks ago State Representative, Dan Dodd (D-91st District) contacted Principal Tim Williams of Logan Elm High School.

He informed Principal Williams that he had an award he wanted to present to Johnnie Brown.
Representative Dodd wanted to present Johnnie this award at an all school assembly.

Principal Williams did not want to disrupt the entire student body and opted to have the award given to Johnnie in the library in front of a government class and his family.

On Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, Representative Dodd said this was a very prestigious award that not many people get. He then gave Johnnie the award.

The representative handed the award to Johnnie and it appeared he wanted Johnnie to read it instead of the presenter (Rep. Dodd), like it should have been done.

Johnnie is a very humble and somewhat shy person. Vice Principal Hreha jumped up and said he would read it.

Mr. Hreha began reading the award and stopped when he got to a name that was not Johnnie Brown. The award was for someone else.

Representative Dodd appeared to be confused and said that his aide must have put the wrong award in the box in his car. He made a joke to the fact that his aide might join the unemployed people in the state.

Stay Classy, Ohio Planned Parenthood

February 18th, 2010 Matt View Comments

Planned Parenthood of Ohio sent every state legislator some chocolate this week for Valentine’s Day. Nice gesture, huh?

But inside, the chocolate was in the shape of birth control pills. mmmmm, so appetizing!

Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in America, apparently went to great expense to reduce human sexuality to crass chocolate humor while promoting unhealthy lifestyle choices. And taxpayers probably paid for this disgusting nonsense.

This is almost as classy as when I was an undergrad at OSU and a volunteer for “Voices for Planned Parenthood,” a student org front group that Planned Parenthood uses to absorb student activity money, passed out literature to me on the way to class. The volunteer was dressed as a 6ft tall, giant cartoonish uterus.

These jerks are without class or dignity.

Craig Newbold for State Representative (State House District 1)

From The (East Liverpool) Review:

LISBON – Local businessman Craig Newbold has announced his candidacy for the state representative seat held by Democrat Linda Bolon.

Newbold, founder of the NewLife Technical Institute, will seek the Republican nomination for the state representative seat in the May 4 primary election.

“I have stood by for too long and watched this region of Ohio slide backwards. I believe that I could bring a fresh new perspective to the General Assembly and help shape policies that will put us back on the right track,” said Newbold, in a news release issued Thursday.

Newbold, who grew up in St. Clair Township and graduated from Beaver Local High School, founded Best Consulting in Seattle 20 years ago, which he said grew into a $100 million operation and one of the premier software service companies on the West Coast, with 1,100 employees.

Selling the company in 1996 gave Newbold and his wife, Rose, the opportunity to become what he calls a “social entrepreneur” by returning to the county and using his expertise in the software industry to start a new business.

“Rather than trying to revive the faltered industries of the past, I looked to the IT service industry and launched NewLife, a non-profit IT training school for people that needed a ‘hand up,’ a hand that I could give them,” Newbold said in the news release.

Newbold said he wanted to be able to do more, which is why he decided to run for state office. “Rather than focusing on creating substantive new jobs, we resort to gambling casinos. This is not sound public policy in my mind,” he said.

“Meanwhile, the state is facing budget deficits that are of staggering proportions. Had it not been for the federal government’s bailout, we would have had to shut down much of the state government. This has to be addressed and addressed now,” Newbold said.

Mr. Newbold’s private sector accomplishments are amazing. I would like to know more about his American Spirit Initiative, which has an important cause but unfortunately requested millions in Federal stimulus dollars. (I guess we now know why Gov. Strickland turned down the American Spirit Initiative’s requests… Once again showing how political the doling out of “stimulus” dollars is.)

Newbold was featured in Mahoning Valley Leaders Magazine, which can be read here.
